Why is our boat in Lavrion First of all, Lavrion is just a 25 minute ride from Athens airport (in nice and quiet surroundings). Most of charter boats lie in Kalamaki(Alimos) harbour in Athens. This is much farther away than Lavrion and you have to go through the whole city to get there. Moreover it's crammed, noisy and there are no facilities. The worst part is, that sailing to the beautiful Cyclades, you will loose a full day of your charter just because it takes 4 hours each way back and forth, just to get to cape Sounion! We decided to pay more for our berth In Olympic Marina in Lavrion, but have solved all these problems. Laundry, clean toilets and showers, cafe and chandler in a quiet, guarded marina, the town with restaurants and bars is 15 minutes walking. And the first anchorage in the Cyclades is only 14 nautical miles away. |
